Greetings,

I am in Texas right now and I recently graduated from UTSA with a degree in Marketing. I originally attended Millersville where I was a bad student (2.4 with 63 credits). I decided to try something crazy and attend UTSA to finish up. I turned it all around however and finished up at UTSA. Anyway, I am looking to move back to PA and was looking into these three schools.

I am looking to do either a MS in Supply Chain MGMT or a MS in Finance.

Based on reputation, salaries, and overall quality of education, which of these three would be the best choice for me? Also, what would my chances be? Here are some of my stats:

Millersville
63 credits - 2.39 GPA

Austin Community College
9 credits - 3.33 GPA

Alamo Colleges
12 credits - 4.00 GPA

UTSA
81 credits - 3.46 GPA

Cumulative
165 Credits - 3.1 GPA
Last 60 Credits: 3.75

680 GMAT (Retaking in December)

First question - what do you want to do? You looking at graduate school? What field? Or a second bachelors? Again, what field?

Temple and The Fox School of Business! It might even be the cheapest. All the schools are good though.

I agree with the above recommendation for Temple Fox.

Many of the good programs will want to see relevant work experience too. When one graduates from a MS program in a business line, one willl need relevant work experience, to get a full-time position.

Unfortunately, the true career changer or never had a work experience isn't really an ideal candidate for certain programs. Graduate school admisssion programs especially from schools that are not competitive will make it appear it's good for all, and will take on more students than those that are truly to succeed and do well from the program.

Your job history, what you plan on doing, etc. is much more relevant than previous GPAs. It seems like your average GPA is above 3.0 so it shouldn't be of such focus. It's really scrutinized more for entry in top tier schools like U Penn, where there is more competition for admission.

Tough to recommend without knowing what field you're shooting for but have heard very good things about Nova's MSF program.

No offense, but there is no way you are getting into Villanova, so you can cross that out. Depending on your financial situation, you may want to go with Temple, because Drexel and Villanova would both empty your pockets.

Honestly, OP, and I say this in a solely helpful way -- for an masters program in business, considering your transcripts, it might be tough for you to get into any of these schools. I would apply to both Temple and Drexel (above poster is correct, Nova is completely out of the question) and see if they accept you and if they are willing to provide any aid.

If not, there are a ton of schools around here. Nothing wrong with one of the Millersville-like state universities or one of the adjunct branches of Penn State.

I just Snatched these off Princeton Review (All of these websites like this are crap shoots however):

Villanova
Avg. GPA: 3.30
GPA 25-75 percentile: 3.0 - 3.60
GMAT 25-75 percentile: 563 - 640

Drexel
Avg. GPA: 3.20
GPA 25-75 percentile: 2.8 - 3.54
GMAT 25-75 percentile: 580 - 680
-------
It seems like I have a decent shot at Nova and Drexel, considering my GPA is in their range (albeit the low end), and my test scores are at the higher end. The Temple scores for GPA were out of my range, unfortunately.

I know there is more to it than just GPA + Scores, however it seems like a good chance if you go by these numbers (who knows how accurate they are).

As for my second part of my question, which one is more prestigious / or has a higher quality of education in your opinion?

Yeah Fox is the second best business school in Philadelphia and has some of the best graduate programs in the country. It is a much larger school, and there are only so many spots in graduate programs. I think you should still apply to all 3, albeit I do not know how much the costs are.
