The waitress is wrong for being an intolerant big mouth, the owner is wrong for not firing said intolerant big mouth on the spot and the victim is a dope for returning ... Stupidity all the way around:

Some on the Left need to learn the First Amendment.

I agree. She should have gone to Cracker Barrel, or KFC, instead.

I'm certainly not condoning the server's bad behavior, but consider: Mt Airy is about as left-ist as an area can be, it's the day after an historic upset, and the customer shows up wearing Trump gear. This is baiting behavior. What did she expect? Everyone saying "hey, congrats on the win!" followed by a round of Kumbaya? Think about the reception a Clinton supporter would get in Alabama on November 9 if she wore an "I'm with her" t-shirt.
Emotions run high after events like 11/8. People have a right to celebrate, but they should also be prepared to deal with those who are not of like mind. Reprimand the server, take a hit on social media, then get on with the day-to-day and realize this crap's going to be part of the New Normal if we don't up our civility game.

Sounds like the "victim" was looking for trouble-especially if you know the neighborhood, and this establishment.

(I grew up literally around the corner from this diner).

Like others have said, it sounds like she was trying to provoke someone into doing something, and then play the innocent card.

And you Republicans accuse us liberals of "playing victim" all the time...

I am more disturbed by the Trump supporters that have been harassing/threatening the business. Some people have claimed that the woman yelled at the waitress first. I find the "checking" story very hard to believe. This woman was clearly trying to provoke a reaction.

I don't blame the owner for not firing the waitress. He runs a Diner in Mt. Airy. He knows his patrons.

Not sure what the first amendment has to do with anything here. No one was saying the government should step in to prevent the woman from wearing trump gear. She wanted to rub liberals noses in Trumps victory and apparently thought others couldn't use their own freedom of speech to tell her off. What an idiot.

In this story, isn't this an example of someone on the left also exercising their first amendment rights originally and then a completely unsubstantiated allegation of assault afterwards with no other witnesses from outside the accusing party, witnesses against the accusing party, and absolutely no video or medical evidence?

Also, I can't believe you set an old lady on fire last week just because she supported non-GMO agriculture. Shame on you!

I'm sure a Jeb Bush presidency would have resulted in the same degree of tension.

Pretty dumb behavior by all involved.

The most annoying thing to me is the insistence on differentiating between East and West Mount Airy, which is annoying enough on a neighborhood level, but even more so when used to simply differentiate which side of Germantown Avenue something is on.
