As for brown shoes, I don't dislike them, per se, but I think brown goes best with warm colors like tan, khaki, brown, etc. I do not understand brown shoes (especially bright golden brown shoes) with cool colors like blue or black. And I definitely do not understand them with any pants that are too short.

Also, I see a lot of guys wearing pointy brown dress shoes with blue jeans. This confounds me as well.

Navy pants with brown shoes is OK IMO if they are darker brown shoes. Lighter blue pants can absolutely go with brown shoes, even light brown shoes.

I don't know, I like classic fashion that's timeless. However, fashion is an art and evolves, trends, and comes back around. I guess all I'm saying is that most approaches work if done correctly, and I appreciate the variety.

As the OP said the pants are too short. I saw a guy today with a similarly cut suit but his pants came down to his shoes. No socks showing.

Brown/deep tan or cordovan shoes do work with navy, imo. But never with black.

What kind of shoe do you think guys should wear with jeans?

Personally I'm sick of sneakers; I don't own any now.

I think a casual shoe works well with jeans, but not a pointy dress shoe.

The trend has been around for 2 years now by the way. It almost becomes ubiquity.
Usually in the Summer, a lot of people (including me) wear no socks for the style.

The newest trend now is actually oversized pleated pants just like what my dad wore (based on the pictures) in the 80s.
Oh, God no! I was hoping pleated pants would never come back.

No socks, in summer, comes and goes as a style.

You forced all the millenial posters to google Thatcher L. Lol. They would have no idea who he was without looking him up.

Not the platform shoes and those type of pants a la John Travolta in his movies in the 70s.
Maybe I should raid my father's closet.
The funny thing about fashion is that there would be a stage where people (in this case me) says "Ew, dad / mom why do you dress up like that..." that now evolves to the point that whatever they wore become fashionable again.
Some of my clients since last year requesting Brikenstock sandals again. I despised them. Now they grow on me.
Same with fanny packs.

And when I went back home to Miami in December, I saw guys and girls start wearing crocs again.
Please! Let's not repeat fanny packs or Birkenstocks or Earth shoes. I think Earth shoes are definitely gone though.

Eh, no Crocs either!

I am just glad that for ONCE it is men, instead of women, who are following ridiculous-looking fashion trends!

My philosophy is this: I don't care how "in" something is. If it looks ridiculous, or is unflattering, I am not wearing it.
