My mother is turning 70 in April. We were all excited to learn that the Ritz Carlton had a chocolate buffet on weekends...HOWEVER...they are remodeling and it will not be open for a few months.

She does not like going out to dinner, but loves chocolate/desserts so it was perfect. We were going to go there and then maybe a horse and buggy ride. We even heard that the duck tours were fun.

Are there any other chocolate buffets or restaurants geared solely to dessert? We want it to definetly be something to remember since it is a special birthday.

We will be taking the train in.

Painted Parrot Café
211 Chestnut Street
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19106

fax: 215.923.8762

has a dessert buffet on Wednesday.

You'll be closer to the Duck Tours and horse and carriage rides there as well.

I like the Naked Chocolate Cafe at 1371 Walnut St. It's not a buffet, but has a beautiful selection of chocolate and other desserts. Naked Chocolate Cafe
It's small and tastefully done, but certainly doesn't have the grandeur of the Ritz Carlton, however.

I've read nothing but good things about Naked Chocolate so I second that one.

Just found this:
The Swann Lounge and Cafe, Four Seasons, 1 Logan Square
In addition, the Swann also offers a lovely Viennese dessert buffet. The range of options is staggering and includes such indulgences as chocolate raspberry fondant cake, Viennese strudel, chocolate mousse cake, pecan Marjolaine, almond Kirsch torte or strawberry Romanoff trifle.

Le Bar Lyonnais at Le Bec Fin
The bar is also an ideal pre- or post-theater destination, especially considering that legendary Le Bec-Fin desserts are available! All are sublime, of course, but chocolate lovers particularly adore the L'Opera cake and Gâteau St. Nizier.
