Of course I know Wawa is locally owned. I remember the first Wawas where the focus was their milk. Next the focus was coffee. Eventually it became sandwiches(hoagies).

And I agree completely with you. That corner deserves something way better than what's there now.

Perfectly fine. Busy. Clean. And employees are very friendly.

Hoagiefest is the best thing ever. Literally I ordered a:

Full size.

Classic wheat with roasted chicken breast. Garlic Aioli. Pepper jack cheese. Spinach. Cucumber. Jalapeno. Hot Peppers. Pickles. Pepper. Old Bay.

For $5.

It was ALWAYS presented BEAUTIFULLY. And for $5 was a STEAL that tasted. nom.

LOVE WAWA.
Well, keep giving it your millennial love. Lol.

I don't need it. Don't care about it. Plenty of mom and pop places I can go to. Do you go to any of those as well? Places that are one of a kind? True family operations where folks have to bust their asses to make a profit and/or stay viable? Those are the places that need my $$. Wawa needs nothing from me.

This post seems to point to what I think is what got people's backs up. There's a gap between different types of food, with convenience food being below fast food & both being below a hoagie shop.

I gave an example of someone thinking that an hours old meatball sandwich, therefore a soggy one, was wonderful, in comparison to others he had gotten, in another region. If you are in the habit of not eating convenience food the quality seems less to you.

As to the OP, people will go to WaWa in the city for a lot of reasons especially price. If you have 2 parents & 2 kids, do you want to buy regular hoagies from a regular hoagie shop & spend the big bucks & end up with wasted sandwiches, or get smaller, cheaper sandwiches at WaWa, for one example.
But do you agree that the quality of Wawa's food has declined? I think that's cpomp's only point.

Yes, but, in my opinion, the decline was before what he's talking about.

Got it. I never had Wawa's food before a few years ago. I've really only had it once while in a rush.

I still think it's just fine, for what it is. Go to the NC board & ask about convenience food. People there are pretty upset that WaWa skipped from Virginia to Florida.

Well, they certainly used to be that (a true family operation where folks had to bust their asses to make a profit and stay viable), and since I was a fan then, I remain a fan now. I completely understand that if Wawa was never your (not you specifically) thing to begin with that you wouldn't patronize it now. But I wouldn't understand someone who used to frequent it but decided not to after it became "corporate." That's like hating when your favorite band gets a major-label record deal (i.e., they "sold out").

That corner should be showcase for the city and, well, Wawa has allowed it to become a crap-a-toria.

The only Wawa I have ever been in is the one at Broad and Walnut. Walked in. Walked out, never been in one since and no plans to go. Too many other options out there.
