Here's the rankings from the original source instead of the CNN CliffNotes version: The 48 best cities in the world in 2019

The blurb about Philadelphia on the page:
Quote:
When asked ‘Which city do you most want to visit in 2019?’, few city-dwellers elsewhere opted for Philly. But its thriving restaurant scene suggests serious foodies should give it a second look. The City of Brotherly Love ranks sixth in the world for food and seventh for drink, and that only promises to improve when the new East Market brings a brewery and host of hip fast-casual joints to the heart of the city. Josh Middleton
Philly has a great food scene, but 6th in the world seems.... generous. We are #1 when it comes to sandwiches though.

Yep, as I said: food id a big factor.

Jfc, does every Philadelphian have to inject a "downer/Negadelphian" spin about it? Just stop it. Stop it now. Believe what the report says and, stop going, "No, we're not good enough to be 6th". Sigh...

We, here, continue to be our own worst enemies.

Why do I have to trust this specific article? This article doesn't have Philly's food scene in the Top 10. This article doesn't have Philly's food scene in the Top 10. This article doesn't have Philly's food scene in the top 50. This article doesn't have Philly's food scene in the top 15. However, this article has Philly's food scene at 15.

In my personal travels, I would put Philadelphia's food scene behind Paris, Montreal, Chicago, San Francisco, Barcelona, Mexico City, Tokyo and Lima. That's 9th place right there, and I haven't been to lots of the other places that show up in these articles. I will put Philadelphia's food scene ahead of lots of the European cities that show up in these articles, however. New Orleans and Hong Kong are overrated food-towns also.

Sorry if my opinions aren't homerish enough for you.

Paris is #1 for food. NYC can't hold a candle to European cities when it comes to eating out. Just think about it, food is not the greatest NYC export. Europeans know how to make really good food, followed by the Asians.

This list is nothing but a click-bait and it has achieved its objective. That's why they threw in Manchester at #15.

On the whole, European food is better than American food. They have better ingredients, and their restaurants generally take more pride in themselves, BUT the food scene in most European cities tend to be monotonous, whereas in new world countries, there's naturally more variety. And yes, I'm aware that every large European city has some ethnic restaurants, but aside from London, they're few and far between.

I would rather have a random meal in Florence than Philadelphia, but if I was going to have 100 random meals in a row, I would prefer Philadelphia over Florence.

It was a rant based on the glass-half- empty attitudes about Philadelphia. It's frustrating.

Basically, you are saying there is more variety in Philly than in European cities. I see this as the beauty of America. We have everything from everywhere.

My lowdown.

Awesome to always see positive press for Philadelphia.

I will tout the ranking but also recognize it's from Time Out and something like this will bring alot of page views that is for sure.

Page views = Money.

Science does not.
