My mom told me a while ago that a few blocks from our house used to stand a big apartment complex called Willow East (and/or) Park Sutton (she told me they used both names for it, don't know which came first). They tore the complex down in the late 80's after it was abandoned for a few years and built a new street, named Pelle Circle.

I was wondering if anyone knew any information or had any pictures at all to share about this complex. I've been interested in this for a few years now, but have never found anything on it.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, I know where Pelle is, I live about 3 or so blocks away from it.

I Googled your info and came up with a story from The Reading Eagle dated Dec 7th, 1977. I am not able to copy and paste the url. The story is about a fire there that emptied the buildings which at that time were only half full. It also mentioned two previous fires, suspicious, that damaged many apartments. Use Google advanced search with the exact phrase "300 routed by fire" and on the other lines "park sutton" and maybe it will come up for you. It's hard to imagine a situation like that in that neighborhood.

Thank you very much Bryson and thank you Frank for the link!
It is very well hard to imagine something like that almost in my backyard!

Thank you again!

I lived there in 1977. I went through the fire. I remember it a little too well.

Default Park Sutton

I lived at Park Sutton with my family in the seventies. I was seven in 1977, when someone slipped a match into the office mailbox and the whole place went up in flames. The middle of the winter, with freezing cold temperatures in Dwcember, in the early still dark AM hours, I remember sitting in the back of a lightblue and white police car with my brother. I was seven years old. Our parents were trying to figure out where to go and what to do... This night changed all of our lives. There is so much more to say about this dark experience. It was just a speck on my crazy life's map.
