Hi! I have been reading these boards for some time but I've never posted before. My husband and I currently live in the Bustleton section of NE Philadelphia and we are looking to move outside the city. We have always liked the North Wales, PA area. My husband works in W. Norriton so he's used to a long commute and North Wales would be fine for him.

I, on the other hand, work just off City Avenue in Bala Cynwyd. Is there anyway to get from North Wales to Bala without going on the NE Extension (476) or Conshohockon State Road? I have nightmares of "West bound 76 to the Conshohocken curve" at 4pm!

Thanks

There is a way, a slightly roundabout way, but a way to avoid some scary traffic. If you were to 309 South all the way down to Cheltenham area, you could drive through Mt Airy and hit Lincoln Drive and take Lincoln Drive to City Ave. This will probably take you less than 45 minutes, but it depends on traffic. From North Wales down 309 is about 20 minutes. So from there to Bala would be another 15-20 minutes, but it's not a terrible drive. You could also take 309 South all the way to the end and jump on Broad Street and take that to the US Route 1 South entrance. You would be on the boulevard for approx. 5min without traffic and would get off on City Ave. I took both ways and traffic is key here. There is another way to cut through Roxborough and avoid Lincoln Drive and get on Ridge ave to City Ave, but I reserve that for really bad days as it's very much out of the way. Hope this helps!

Actually, that's not a bad idea. My favorite aunt lived in North Wales for years and I used to live in Germantown so 309 is familiar to me but I haven't been on it in years. Didn't they just to a ton on upgrade construction on it? Also, what is 309 like at around 4:30pm? Thanks
