Has anyone ever stayed here? Or know anything about it from personal experience? I will be staying there for a week in March, and was wondering about the general area.

Thanks as always.

I've never stayed there. I spoke with a guy, a guest at the Tyler State Park hostel, Newtown PA, who told me that he'd been there a couple of times and liked it. He'd stayed at other hostels in the area and that Chamounix is the only one he'd visit again.

I drove up to have a look around. It's a beautiful old building. Since it's at the end of the road past the tennis courts and stables, it should be quiet enough at night. I'm not sure of any safety issues. Though it's close to Rt. 76, it's on a hill and not right next to the road.

Plug the address into Live Search Maps and look at the aerial and bird's eye views.

I would rather stay at Apple Hostels on Bank Street. Chamounix Mansion Hostel is far away from the city center. It will take you about 1.5 hours by bus and foot to get to downtown Philly. Also they have a lock out and a curfew. Means you need to be out by 10:30am and cant get back in before 4:30pm. They lock the door by midnight again. If you really want to experience Philadelphia change your booking to Apple Hostels of Philadelphia - check out their website: Apple Hostels - Welcome to Apple Hostels Philadelphia
