Looking at a house there. My son is a patient at CHoP and we come in from out of town for his appointments. Thinking of buying a fixer-upper and (after fixing it up) sell it when we are done @ CHoP. Is that neighborhood really bad? I have a feeling it is.

Thanks all.

Those streets don't intersect.

It doesn't fit at all. What's the address? Numbered streets run north/south parallel to each other. East/west streets have names, then there are those which run at odd angles through the area just to confuse the uninitiated.

Here's a thought: if you are over by Drexel University on 31st St. and follow it north, it bends to the left and becomes Mantua Ave. Nine blocks or so along, the name changes to Parrish. When you follow Parrish west, it ends near 51st St., three blocks north of Haverford Ave. If that's the neighborhood in question, you can't live there.

oops. My bad. It's 31 S. 51st street.

Pretty sure that's not good. Sorry about my confusion.

I can't speak for that block, but I've been quite amazed at how many homes are being fixed up as far west as 52nd st around Black Oak Park.

Thanks all.

30th street up to about 45th is fairly safe and filled with college age students. Past 45th and say, Chestnut it gets dicier.
Does this help?
