The New Years celebrations will start on Thursday afternoon and wrap up sometime early Sunday morning . . . and yes, the party on the 1st is bigger, starts at 8am and goes into the early hours of the next morning.

The Mummers Parade is cheesy and I wouldn't watch it all day... but it is a quintessential Philly tradition and is worth checking for a bit at least once.
