So I'm a recent college graduate looking to move from long island to the greater Philadelphia region.

My main goal here is to find employment. Doing online PA job searches I see most of them tend to cluster around distinct areas such as Philadelphia, Reading, Lehigh Valley, etc.

So I figure if I can move into an area that is to some degree equi-distant to all of those, I will better my chances of finding sound employment with less travel and hassle.

So I narrowed it down further and have decided on two counties to potentially move to -- Montgomery and Chester county.

My question is, given the information I've provided on my background, which town in the aforesaid counties do you think would best match my ambitions? Please keep in mind that, while I do have money saved up, it would be insufficient to squander it on expensive housing. I'm looking for cheap rent around the $500-750 range.

Any input much appreciated.

So, its been 3 days and no reply hence I'm bumping this for any bit of input possible. I'd also only be looking for a 1br apt.

i'm guessing no one has replied because it's hard to give advice with the limited info you've provided.

My advice would be to find a job before you move here. Then we can be of more help.

These days you're more likely to hit that $750 mark than $500.

An equidistant location between Montgomery and Chester Counties would probably be in Delaware County. Look at Upper Darby, Drexel Hill, Springfield, Havertown and Newtown Square. I think I may have happened to list these towns in order from "okay" to "pretty nice". Rent will probably be commensurate with that as well. You'll be fairly close to I-476 aka "the Blue Route" which travels north-south through all three counties.
