Hi, my husband and I looking to relocate to the Newtown, Churchville area. We have been looking at houses and have come across more affordable houses in Southampton, PA. I would like to know if Southampton is a good area to raise a family ( crime, schools, etc.) Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I would say in South Jersey. I grew up in Southampton and now live in Jersey. Its very similar. Taxes, schools, homes.. Why move if everything stays the same?

There is a pretty big difference between Newtown/Richboro and Southampton ... the one BIGBIGBIG difference being the schools. Do you have kids? If so, stick to newtown/richboro/holland, it's council rock schools. Once you get into southampton you're looking at centennial schools which are honestly not nearly as good as council rock. Southampton is also putting you more towards Street Rd and some more transiant areas. Whats your price range? There are some very good deals in Holland that I would point you towards.

Hi, thanks for answering. We are moving to be closer to family and friends who live in Pennsylvania and central jersey .. right now I pay about 9K in property taxes and would like more property. I really like Yardley, Newtown, Holland area. As I was going through properties I noticed Southampton kept coming up with very affordable prices.but I was just wondering why such a price difference?

Hi, I do have kids and like the Pennsbury and council rock school district. I just noticed on my search of Yardley, Newtown and Holland Southampton kept coming up as more affordable and just was wondering why?? Our maximum we would like to pay is 425k..so of course anything less than this is a plus. Any input please...

Theres a fair amount of inventory out there right now, so people are competing with price in those areas. Holland has always been an affordable town in a good school district. It's rare that more affordable homes come up in Yardley, but with the way the market is, things that are normally mid 400's have dipped into the upper 300's recently which is a great deal and should be almost instant equity. Newtown has less inventory out there and is harder to find something in your price range, unless you go with a town home. I think if you focused on Yardley or Holland though you would find a great home in your price range in a great school district.
