My house is the same. In the summer, very warm water comes out of the cold water tap. But cool water comes out of the hot water tap until the hot water from the heater gets to the faucet.

I was going to suggest putting the water in the fridge, but if you have a brita fridge pitcher... Anyway the water tastes better at the right temp, even if it's unfiltered tap water.

I will try that, Grannysroost, hope it tastes a bit better, with the reverse osmosis process they use. And I'm sure I'll get used to the taste of the tap water. Even my tummy has had to adjust a bit IYKWIM

LOL. When I lived in North Scottsdale, during summer, I could take a shower with the faucet set to the coldest temperature. In downtown Phoenix, the water is usually at least cool coming from the faucet.

I still drink water from the faucet (with ice). The glass is always full of sediment. But it's not that bad. I'm not much of a water snob. During summer, I get plenty of frigid, good Lake Michigan water.

That happened this morning with my kitchen faucet. I could literally take a bath or shower in it. A handyman is coming over soon and this will be checked out. I have a feeling I'm not going to like the answer! But I hope it is hot water mixing with the "cold."

Yes, you don't really need a hot water heater during summer months in Phoenix. I yearn for a cold shower in the summer time. I have always ended my showers, even in winter, with just cold water. Sure can't do that here. In the summer I like to just take cold showers, but your shower will only be about 5 seconds in the summer time if that is what you like.

I just moved here also and don't like the water. I got a big Brita fridge unit and it's much better.

As far as the cold water goes - I was staying at my parents retirement home in the Tucson area a while back in the summer and the shower was so warm that I didn't realize that they turned the water heater off. I noticed that the water wasn't steaming hot but it was warm enough for a comfortable shower.

I just moved here too and Brita isn't doing the job. I'll probably try the dispensers at the supermarket.

My solution was to buy a water cooler like many offices have, and an undersink RO system to fill my own bottles. It's really a cost of living in the desert.

Many apartments don't mind if you install an ro system, and if you look around a bit they don't have to cost alot.

I went ahead earlier today and ordered Sparkletts water to be delivered every two weeks in 3 gallon bottles. I thought they were out of business! Grew up with them in southern California, but hey they're still around.
