Why would anyone live in a dusty **** hole like Phoenix? Who wouldn't rather live near cool ocean or mountain breezes. Dust and grit flying in your ears and eyes and otherwise is not enjoyable. You can't even sit out and watch the rain with a dust mask.

Hello Monsoon, 2007?

Burn, baby burn!

Sandblasting your pores is good for your complexion. Keeps 'em cleaned out.

Er. I wouldn't rather.

I spent the vast majority of my adult life (thus far) and a fair portion of my teens living near the coast in Marin County and Sonoma County, CA. I _don't_ miss it. The fog and damp cold really bothered me, not to mention how awful my husband's and daughter's seasonal allergies were. Now, since moving to Maricopa, AZ, the three of us all feel better, healthier, more energized.

Don't you remember when we were little kids, and one of the grandparents would say something like, "Oh, that Mrs. Thomas from up the road, she moved out to the desert _for her health_"? They weren't foolin'.

Those things are always spinning out there. Theyre dust tornadoes, pretty much.

Yeah, it'd be interesting to see one first hand. They aren't as dangerous as tornadoes produced through thunderstorms, but still a sight.

Yep! I see them out here in IL from time to time, particularly on blustery days, near the tilled fields. Youll see dirt devils all over the place. Not the size nor quantity as the ones in AZ, but theyre still neat nonetheless.
