I am going to be moving from Michigan to Surprise, AZ in the next 6 months. I haven't really come across any issues with Surprise except the snow birds and traffic. I am wondering if there are any areas to stay away from or areas that seem to be better than others? We will be renting a house for the first year or so (just until we establish where we like to be permanently) and am looking for some insight. We have a five year old that will be in first grade by the time we move so obviously school districts are a huge thing for us. Are some schools better in Surprise than others? I appreciate any information!!!

I cant really help you too much since I just moved out here from CT and now I am going to be moving to Peoria, AZ.

I would do a search on the forums for Surprise, AZ and see what comes up. I recall reading a post that you can buy a house in Surprise for 33% less than you can in Peoria. I am moving to Peoria, which is close by to Surprise and the houses are very affordable there.

Surprise is fairly well spread out and there are better areas than others. The best way to narrow down your search area is to get a realtor to help you. I like the Marley Park area the best but Kingswood Park by Bell is also nice and quiet. Not sure about the schools there.

Check out the Imagine Schools Charter program. They have a great elementary school on Bullard and Cactus, near the Marley Park neighborhood, which I would agree, is one of the nicer ones here.

My son use to go to Imagine Charter school on Bullard and Cactus and i can tell you that not all the teachers there are certified. That was a big issue for a lot of parents when this came to light. Rancho Gabriela's sub division has a great school which is doing extreamly well with their test scores. Marley Park is another great sub division with a great school.

Okay so I don't want to repeat my postings, but if you read some of the recent Surprise threads, I love Marley Park in Surprise. So far, I like the school as well. I am 25 minutes from my job in Peoria off of 101 and Thunderbird.
