So? I'm not talking about this kid. I'm talking about people I actually know. This kid was an idiot. This kid does not represent everyone that open carries or owns.

This kid just happened to be two feet in front of me. That's all that mattered to me and why I started this thread. And an "idiot" should not be allowed to walk into a store with a gun loosely in his pocket! And this is why it should NOT be legal.

[mod cut-- orphaned quote and response]
I'll be honest. I DO understand having one in one's home to protect against intrusion. I DO understand having one in one's car in the event of road rage. What I do NOT understand is this attitude that it's ok to go anywhere and everywhere about your daily business with a gun. The odds of coming across a situation where you'd need it are probably less than a plane crash.

With the odds of trouble that low, why were you upset??

Well, soon they'll be allowed into sports arenas and college universities around here. What happens when the professor gives the kid a D or an F? Or, when the team doesn't win?

Nothing different at all, IMO.

Anywhere guns are involved and not holstered properly, there is a threat greater than a plane crash.

How many of you would feel safe if John McCain came waltzing into your town wearing a Buscadero style gun belt and holster carrying a Nickel Finish Peacemaker?

That's what I thought.

If I am uncomfortable I just remove myself the area.

That won't work out well on a plane.

Ok, Columbine, Virginia Tech. You keep telling yourself that.

And don't forget the shooter in Tucson had a real issue with the school that told him he could not come back until he had a mental evaluation. You go ahead and keep believing in this like the tooth fairy.
