We are looking for referrals for demolishing our inground pool. It is very very old and is going to cost a fortune to make it swimmable. All the kids are grown, NOBODY uses it anymore & it takes up the ENTIRE backyard. We are set on doing this but are looking for folks in our area who have actually had this done or have done the work themselves. So, if you have demolished an in-ground pool please reply with either good or bad stories or companies. Thanks

I have only heard of people having holes punched in the bottom of the old pool and then get it filled with dirt. It seems like over-engineering to have an old pool removed.

I agree.........
Pools make a great lawn, with a great "mowing border" already built in

I'm afraid that your demolition project may cost a lot more than fixing it up.....but.....go ahead & check it out.

I've seen a good deck option on a smaller pool. I think you're looking at 9000 to completely demolish a 400 sf pool. It's also a disclosure issue, when you sell.

Default Funny folks!!

We aren't going to "remove" the pool - it's a huge diving pool about 30,000 gallons - we are planning on filling it in by drilling the holes in the bottom and breaking up the upper few feet of pool & throwing in the sidewalk & cool deck and all the pretty "blue rocks" and the top layer or two of the front yard grass (and whatever else we can find to get rid of) and then filling with dirt and living happily ever after without this huge empty albatross staring at us everyday! We know we have to disclose when we sell - hope the new owners don't want a pool!

I'd check with the city and see if it requires a permit.

For some reason I seem to recall when I lived in Texas a permit was required in some of the large cities so they could ensure it was properly destroyed.
