A caveat for the OP - AZ school districts are entities unto themselves and school district boundries do not necessarily coincide with town boundries.
When you look at a house - check the listing to see what school district it is actually in.

People harangue California to death and then when they hop to another state, this is the refrain. And you're right about Agoura Hills schools -- they are some of the best in the U.S.!

AZ does not give education a priority and it shows.

The state doesn't give education a priority but there are still plenty of very good charter/private schools here.

While this is an old thread, and the OP has probably made a decision, if this thread is going to be useful to others, it needs to stay on the original topic, and not comparisons to schools in other states, or discussion of Arizona as a whole in terms of education. Thanks!

For some weird reason the Higley district tends to very underrated by the public, despite being an "A" rated district by AZED for two straight years. For comparison, Gilbert Public Schools was a "B" rated district for the 2010-2011 school year, but is well loved by the public. Fact is, AZED's statistics don't lie.
