Moving back to Phx next week and need to have some custom closets installed. I've called several places I've found on the web, but all seem to be rather pricey (ie., $200/linear foot installed once doors/drawers are factored in).

Any suggestions/recommendations for a decent closet company that's not going to break the bank?

I'm happy with the ClosetMaid units I bought in Lowe's. Since there's a window in the walk-in, I got the faux cherry laminate, but the white or light maple color is good if your closet is dark. I got a brochure describing the pieces, designed my own solution to my clothes storage needs and got a handyman to install it. Just make sure the handyman is experienced with hanging kitchen cabinets or something similar. You need the system to be very sturdy. I honestly don't remember what I paid, but I know the total was about 25% of what the Container Store wanted for the job.

Call Quality First Cabinets 602-889-7194, they did our closet years ago and they were great...came out really nice and still looks like new today. They even used a picture of our closet on their website.

Second from the left, with the wall of shoes.

Talk to Artie or Victor and tell them Val (from Super Savings) referred you.

We liked California Closets. They are a chain and we tried local companies first. However, California was really organized, not pushy and reliable on the day of install. We paid a little more money but you get what you pay for and that was our experience. The local guys were not as organized and much less professional overall in our experience.

Perhaps call a ClosetMaid dealer. They are a knockoff of Cal Closts but less expensive. However, if you have already called local companies and found them to be expensive, you may be pricing yourself into a retail grade closet (which will do the trick for many). If so, check out Home Depot or Lowes and either install yourself or find a handyman to do the job.
