Hi all,

This may sound like a silly question, but I'm serious:

To avoid the worst of the summer heat, my preference would be to wake up at the crack of dawn to mow my yard. But, I really like my neighbors (they've all been really sweet to me) and don't want to wake them up during an early Saturday or Sunday morning! That might be rude? I know landscaping crews work early, but they usually come during weekdays...when most of my neighborhood is awake, getting ready for work.

I'm not even sure what we be a polite time to wait til to start mowing...9am? 10am?

Is there any such thing as 'mowing etiquette' that exists? Or is just something people will accept as reality of living in Phoenix during the summer ???

If you woke me up on the weekends with moving, I'd be so pissed freaking off, lol, that I might fly out of the house and yell at you. Weekdays however are fair game, even if it's my day off and I want to sleep in, if you mow on a weekday morning, that is the luck of the draw. Stay away from my weekends though!

I would wait until 9 on the weekends. 7 is fair game on a weekday.

Better yet,.....get rid of your lawn. I have a lawn up here in Canuckistan and none in Phoenix..I will be ripping this one out next summer.

it's just a make work item.

I have always used the rule of 9 on Saturday and 10 on Sunday but that's just me. On a slightly related note, an electric mower is much quieter and less apt to disturb. I have a cordless Black and Decker which is real quiet.

Even quieter is a reel mower.

I agree.

In my municipality construction workers can start at 7:00 AM weekdays. Weekends I agree with above times.

6 am in the summer here. I have a nice Honda mower that isn't very noisy. I think most people are getting the double pane windows, and I'm not within 100 feet of any bedroom windows. It's just too brutal to wait til later. It's legal in the City of Phoenix to be noisier earlier in the summer than the winter. I listen to the smashing sounds of basketball many evenings till 11:00 pm. I just put on some soft music and ignore that. I hope my neighbors will enjoy the care and expense of my well kept lawn.
