Hello, I am considering a move to the Phoenix area and will be working in the hospitality industry. I've been searching job sites etc. and on the list of requirements, there's always something that says "food handler's card required" or "health card required". What are they and how do I get one? I assume that it's a government issued card that is acquired by passing some sort of food safety/regulation test. We don't have them in CO. Thanks for any info.

County health department issues them. Yes, there's a test.

Do an internet search and several companies that do online testing will pop up. Choose one and take the test, print out the completion form and take it down to the closest health dept where they'll issue you a card. Get 2 cards because many places require you to leave one on premises. Total cost should be around $24.
