Like thousands of others, I was totally surprised when First Arizona went under and was taken over by the FDIC. I loved them, and particularly the manager Tom Rose. (If I knew what happened to him, and where he was, I'd probably follow him to whatever bank he moved to.)

Try a credit union. I've been with Desert Schools for years. Lots of branches, so they are easy to use.

You might want to try National Bank of Arizona. They have two branches in Scottsdale, and they offer a great checking account that pays 2% apy.
