Hello,

We have a house cleaner that we pay $130 a visit (2700 sq ft). She spends 2.5 hours at the house and it seems to be just a surface cleaning (dust around things, mop around things without moving the items).

I feel like we're not getting our money's worth. $52/hour is pretty good pay in my opinion and I'm feeling like we should be getting a deeper cleaning than we are.

Any opinions on what we are paying vice what we are getting? Should I expect more? She doesn't do windows, doesn't clean the fridge basically she cleans the bathrooms, dusts, mops, vacuums and wipes down the kitchen for $52/hour. She does bring her young daughter and son (maybe 10-13 years old) to help her.

Can anyone recommend a good, honest and trustworthy house cleaner in the Goodyear area?

Thank you.

For that I price I would offer to come down and clean your home, but why not just clean it yourself and save some money?

Sounds like you're severely overpaying, cleaning should be a $10/hr job tops!

That sounds high for an independent cleaner, but then again I'm in a cheaper area than you. We've had many cleaners in different houses over the years. One thing we've learned is that you have to be very specific as to what your expectations are. So don't just say "clean deeper", but instead say something like "hey Mary, do me a favor and make sure you vacuum under the beds this week, and behind the sofa." If she's rigid about the 2.5 hours, then that might not work out too well. However, you may find that she's happy to accommodate your requests, even if it means working an extra half-hour.

Good, reliable and honest help is really hard to find. You might be better off trying to work with your current housecleaner instead of moving on. The bit about not cleaning refrigerators is worrisome though. Ours is happy to do that.

Yeah, right. Good luck finding somebody to clean your toilets for $10/hour.

Thousands of people do it everyday for minimum wage, ever been to a hotel?

Cleaning jobs require no skill, why should they get paid $52/hr? I should quit my $13/hr job and become a house cleaner if I can get suckers like the OP to pay that much.

You can get a maid service for $30 an hour that will do deep cleaning.

You can put up a ad on craigslist and haggle your rates, I personally wouldn't spend more than $10/hr for deep cleaning.

We use the Merry Maids. They send over 2 sometimes 3 girls to spend 2 1/2 to 3 hours super cleaning. They do it all, move furniture, vacumn, dusting, clean windows, ceiling fans, toilets, sinks, bathtubs, kitchen sinks, mop and straighten everything back up. We pay $110.00 for this.
These people are licensed, bonded, insured and that is what you need to look for when letting strangers in your house to clean. Otherwise they may really clean you out.
Our neighbor friend tried the Craig's list route one time, cost them nearly $10,000 in stolen items.

How can they steal? Did they let them in without them being there?

I heard Merry Maids was a good choice.

We use Rita's...have been for about 4 years on a weekly basis and are very happy with their service. Not sure if they do Goodyear though.
