I assume AA means African-American?

Chandler would not be a bad location for an African-American salon but you might have more business in central, west, or south Phoenix. Tempe and Glendale would also be good areas.

Chandler's actually a diverse community. I think there would defintely be a market for an AA hair salon, but as others have said, I'm not sure there would be enough to warrant a salon for AA hair exclusively.

Thanks for the information, I was thinking Tempe but I am keeping in mind that I will have to be diverse & I am cool with that.

Ah, with Tempe you'll get college students and snowbirds. Cha-ching! Best wishes!

Your guess is spot on. Arizona is a wildly popular destination for snowbirds. Snowbirds are usually retired. They normally arrive in early autumn, before the snow flies in their home states/provinces, and leave AZ before the summer heat kicks in. They bring a lot of money into our economy. They're also often the subject of rude comments, as their presence tends to increase traffic and crowds - lots of jokes about left turn signals left on for miles, etc.

My hair stylist used to work in a salon in Tempe on Mill Avenue (but not near the university). Her business boomed with snowbirds and ASU students. Summers were quieter, with just the residents like me.
