For a long vacation, yes, but for a couple days in Vegas with a carryon bag, it's less than 50 each way. It beats driving at that price. Even SW doesn't have the sales they used to have.

I can't wait to try this airline.

It's a recent IPO and the stock(SAVE) has been performing beautifully. They have great management and a successful business model. They're making double and triple digit growth in sales and eps qtr over qtr.

HOWEVER, I don't see it as a long term investment. We've seen sweetheart deals by Johnny Come Lately Airlines for decades. They bring people aboard but inevitably overhead costs go up and they jack up airline prices. People walk away and find a new flavor of the month. Short term, I say go for it. I think they will expand greatly this year before the inevitable "growing pains" come into play.

Does anyone have actual experience with Spirit? Looking at the website and using early March for dates, it appears the $20 O/W fare is really $130 R/T with 1 carry on, 1 soda each way, and sitting in a Spirit assigned seat (be at least prepared for back row center). Compared to Southwest and USAirways at $100 R/T. Am I reading the Spirit fine print correctly?

spoke with a friend last night that took it to Colombia, via Ft. Lauderdale. He thought it was OK.
