This subject came up in other threads, so here's an update: We're in month number three on the "Time of Use" plan. The bill just came in and we saved $53.51 over the basic plan last month. Our 'on-peak' energy charge was $51.86 and the off-peak was $122.71. (The house is just under 1720 sq ft if you're wondering).

SRP's usage hours are:
Summer On-Peak 1300 to 2000 hours M-F (1pm to 8pm for you 12 hr clock people)
Winter On-Peak 0500 to 0900 hours and 1700 to 2100 hours.
All other times, weekends and some holidays are off-peak.

SRP: Time of Use (TOU) price plan

It's been a real easy adjustment working around the on-peak hours. This past month the savings would have been even greater, but we had house guests and "violated" our policy several days, running the pool filter, washer and dryer and lots of extra cooking during on-peak times. The plan is worth considering if your looking for ways to cut expenses.

APS has similar plans. I have one that includes a demand charge. It's the plan where you can save the most. I save over 100 each month in summer. The trick to the demand scheme is to never run two big things like AC and water heater at the same time during the demand measuring period (noon to 7pm weekdays). Outside of that elect is cheap. If you select a demand plan you have to be SURE you do not mess up, because the penalty is stiff. My house has a load controller that makes compliance automatic. I believe SRP has similar rate plans.
