Need some ideas - If you only had one day in Phoenix what would you do or see? Going to Sedona and Grand Canyon after that.

Also, suggestions for inexpensive but safe/clean hotels in Phoenix are appreciated!

What time of year? And will you have a car? What are your interests?

After Sedona and Grand Canyon, I'd probably be so tired I'd just plop by the pool. LOL! Or, maybe stroll the Botanical Gardens....then the pool.

I'm a big fan of the musical instrument museum... it's amazing.

I would spend 4-5 hours at the museum, have a nice lunch in Old Town Scottsdale and then hang out by the pool at your hotel... of course it all depends what time of year that one day is!

If you're there during spring training, maybe catch a baseball game?

Lot's of inexpensive hotels on Priceline and Hotwire.... the last time I had to stay in a hotel (pre-house purchase) we secured a room at the Hyatt in Scottsdale for $65 through priceline.

The MIM is a must see for anyone who loves music. When you see people of all ages and colors and nationalities enjoying a place together you know it's a winner. (And the cafe is excellent.)

It really depends on your interests, which haven't been spelled out.

Strip bars? Karaoke? Bible study? Inquiring minds wanna know.

Can't lose with Sedona and GC; I've done exactly that.

South Mountain or the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, regardless the time of year.

I actually like the museum at the old capitol building. Great rundown of Arizona history. Papago Park/Zoo/Botanical Gardens would also be a must-see. All are relatively easy to do within a day.

This is what I'd do. I'd find a hotel with a great heated swimming pool, grab a drink and some sun glasses and float on a raft for most of the day. Order some food and enjoy what it's really like here on our weekends.
