Most of the things I worried about are forgotten, and I am sitting in the sun in March when the Midwesterners are tired of Winter and I am tired of the heat in Sept. when the Midwesterners are enjoying nice Fall weather. Attitude is everything, if you like it here you will adapt just fine Welcome!
I keep hearing this all the time on this board. Drink water, drink water, stay hydrated! I've lived here over 40 years and I never take a water bottle with me when traveling in the car or even when I go out walking. If I went hiking in the desert in summer and other special occasions, then yes. Otherwise, I think this hydration thing is way over-hyped. I drink less here when involved in activities than in the hot, humid places I have been. My theory is that cooling is so much more efficient in our dry climate that we achieve more loss of body heat for a given amount of sweat. In humid areas you sweat and sweat and it is not nearly as effective, so you sweat some more.

First thing I do when spotting a scorpion is to scream really loud,,,this shocks them I am sure, then step on it if you have shoes on, if not, keep screaming until someone comes to your aid.

I try to keep a pair of needle-nose pliers handy.

If you're on carpet, that doesn't always work. They're pretty tough little suckers.

You might not have to check your shoes depending on where you live. But, you will need a lot of flippies. The water, well, if you have kidney stones then its a good thing to do. Otherwise just enjoy all the vitamin D!
Good luck on your journey! Welcome to Zonie land.

OK. I need more water here. Just me. I enjoy my excellent health and soft skin, but to each their own.
