I have a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country mini van and a 2001 Mercury Mountaneer. In Pa we pay a flat fee of around $40 a year. I know in Az it goes buy vehicle value. Does any one have a similar vehicle who can tell me what the registration will cost?

You should expect to pay around $150-$200 for both cars. From my understanding, the cost is based upon the vehicle year and vale.

I have a 99 Nissan Sentra, and I just did my tags last night, it was $75 for 2 years, or $51 for 1 year.

My old truck (2008 Silverado) cost around $100/year for registration.

2008 is "old"? If you really did mean 2008, $100 a year sounds low for a one year old car.

To the OP

I don't have the exact same cars as you, but my 2001 Nissan Maxima cost about $100 for renewal last week.

If you go to the Arizona MVD site, it gives you the formula, I think it is in the FAQ section. If you know the MSRP for the cars (it may or may not be on your title or registration as it is here) you can calculate it.

My 06 Taurus just cost me 222.00 online. You can get a slight discount if you are willing to do two years in advance.

From the MVD's website:

Quote:
2) How much does it cost to title and register my vehicle?
It varies depending on the vehicle. There is a $4.00 title fee; an $8.00 registration fee; plus an air quality research fee of $1.50; and a vehicle license tax (VLT) assessed in place of a personal property tax charged by other states. There may also be a weight fee and commercial registration fee, if the vehicle is registered as commercial. The VLT is based on an assessed value of 60% of the manufacturer's base retail price reduced by 16.25% for each year since the vehicle was first registered in Arizona (15% before 8/1/98). Then, as of the Dec 1, 2000 reduction, the rate is calculated as $2.80 (new vehicles)/$2.89 (used vehicles) for each $100 of the assessed value. For example, for a new vehicle that costs $25,000, the first year assessed value would be $15,000 and the VLT would be $420.00. The second year the assessed value would be $12,562.50 and the VLT would be $363.06.

For a mobile home the title fee is $7.00 per section or unit. No other mobile home fees are payable to MVD.

That's very cheap for a 2008, you must of had some sort of coupon.

If I can remember right, my 2006 car was like $250.. I think that may have been for two years.

Car registration is kind of expensive here, since you have a 2008 it will probably be at least $200 (1 year) is my guess. The 2001 maybe $120? Like I said, those are just guesses.

One last thing....if you want to be absolutely sure you can go online and put in your plate at www.servicearizona.com and it will give you the amount and you can still back out without actually paying if you arent ready...least thats what I did last week since I hadnt gotten my reminder yet. You may have to be within a certain number of days for renewal for that to work but Im not sure.
