Where? Maybe living in Scottsdale has clouded reality for me, but a decked out 2,000+ sq ft home with a pool for $1,300/month?

You make that 2400 per month sound like 1200... $1000 for bills and $1400 etc cash should be more than enough for a single guy to life a good life... Hell I lived single in Hawaii netting 1500 per month paying 950 for a studio and it was awesome life. That's whats great about warm weather spots... there are so many things to do outside for very cheap or free.

Well yeah scottsdale is a ripoff, paying more just for the city name... gilbert and chandler are just as nice and way cheaper.

No need to get nasty. I see value in paying to live here or I'd be elsewhere. I was just surprised that $1,300 per month can get you a "decked out" house with a pool. I'm still skeptical that it will buy anything more than a modest house.

$1100- $1300 is too high for a salary of $37,000. However, I could make it work with an apartment renting for $850. I saw a nice apartment complex renting apartments for $850.. 12 month lease. I have lived off a lot less in the early days but I was essentially starving.

I did another calculation that included a withholding of 6% for 401k and an additional $150 per month for insurance. That leaves me with $1910.36.

Rent $850 + 150 (balance billing utilities)
Food $200
Cable $75 is this realistic??
Cell $55
Gas $100
Debt $316
Savings $50
Mine $100
Total: $1896...

It is doable but tight.
