More concerned about the highest low temp of the day this summer. It was 90° at the airport when I rode in this morning.

116 - I'm assuming you mean the valley of the suns temps.
But it seems like a pretty mild summer so far compared to some I've done. We'll see. I just hope it's not another nonsoon.

That's just because I'm moving back after a 15 yr hiatus - and I'm a pessimist.
OTOH, I remember hearing something on the news about this being the warmest year on record nationwide so far; I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Phx breaks a record.
I really hope not, though.

The peak of the heat is right before the onset of the monsoon season most of the time.

The summertime monsoon is upon us and the highest it has been was 112 or 113 I think.

Unless there is a dry trend that causes another heat spike in July or August like last year I believe we have seen the peak, and I think it will be a stormy monsoon season this year, we're overdue for it.

According to weather.com, the record high in Yuma was 124. Yuma is consistently hotter than Phoenix, so I highly doubt we will see temperatures reach 127 in PHX.

113. If the peak of the heat is coming in the next week or so, I suspect we will peak out at 113 sometime late this week or next week. The monsoon is getting started early this year. I suspect July and August will be relatively humid with temperatures most days between 103-108 and overnights from 82-92.

I don't think that we are going to have it hot just because other areas are getting abnormal heat. Denver has been in the triple digits for the past several days now, but we haven't been that much above normal here.

My train of thought when voting was that it was a temperature somewhere in the valley not just the official high at the airport. I voted 119 but only because I think conditions will be perfect enough for a one-day high of that temperature. Otherwise I think the temps will usually only hit 113/4 tops.

Not necessarily. The highest temperatures of the year almost always occur in July ... most often early to mid July right before the monsoon really gets going, but there have been years when the highest temperatures occur during the monsoon "breaks". During a normal year, it's actually pretty common to have those breaks in July & August ... and that's when hot dry air will set in for roughly a week or so, allowing temps to rise above 110 with low humidity.

Also, keep in mind that a lot of factors determine what the highest temperature will be, and when. An above normal monsoon doesn't always mean an early peak in temperatures. A good example of this was 1999 when the monsoon was very active, and the highest temperature was only 111 degrees & it occurred in mid August. The monsoon is very unpredictable, and doesn't always mean a rainy time of year.

It's those monsoon breaks that scare me. 115 in late June is guaranteed to be dry, but a monsoon break often still has dewpoints in the low 50s - too dry to rain and making it a much worse peak temp.

Actually, the highest temperatures happen in mid-late June through early July when we have classic desert conditions of high temps and low humidity that occur prior to the beginning of monsoon weather. The highest recorded temperature occurred around this time of year, in late June (122).

Once the humidity arrives, we're in to the usual tropical conditions seen on most of the continent, in which the heat and humidity builds during the day, after which time the atmosphere overheats in late afternoon/evening. Resulting in downpours that are usually brief.

The temp here moderates somewhat, but the feeling of heat is about the same due to the increased humidity. The humidity here is moderate by most standards.

Even during the monsoon period, the highest temps are on the stretches of July-Sept. days that are relatively dry, between monsoon days. The monsoon days can feel just as hot only because the humidity is higher.
