My Surgery is 7.5 years old. Has super sharp vision right after but now I'm back at 20/20.

I had my lasik done for distance in 2000 and was told at the time it doesn't stop your eyes from changing - i.e. my vision will eventually start to decline and I'll need reading glasses as well in my 40's. Surgery was very successful - better than 20/20 and no issues. I was 30 at the time and it's been 14 years. I tried to get contacts recently and after trying 8-10 pairs, found something that is only okay. I do have dryness too and a new astigmatism that wasn't there when I had my surgery. I'm tired of glasses and the contacts that aren't perfect (and I have to wear reading glasses with my contacts, although not without them) so I'm considering lasik again.

To add my vote: yes, ophthalmologist is the proper consultation for this, not an optometrist. (https://www.aapos.org/terms/conditions/132 ).

I had both eyes done around 2000, in my mid-40's, resulting in slightly better than 20/20. I was informed before the procedure that it could only be a one-time thing, and (even common sense would tell us that as we age) eyesight will likely/naturally continue to decline after the surgery. It is pleasant to hear (and I am not too surprised) that over the years it has now become possible (even common?) to have additional surgeries. Unfortunately in addition to the expected general decline in my vision I have developed cataracts which I will have to address in the very near future -- thus I am pretty certain "re-lasik" is out of the question for me. In spite of that, being an avid scuba diver and outdoors lover I too feel it was one of the best decisions I have made.
