City of Phoenix just confirmed we are leaking about 3qts/min! We keep hearing water running but cannot locate the source. Can someone recommend an Emergency Plumbing service that can come out today?? (Phoenix 85041). George Brazil is NOT available and quite frankly were not very helpful so we can preclude them from the list.

I hope you've shut off the main valve leading into your house!

Parker and Sons does quick service, they are not the cheapest, but you get good work, pleasant people.

Thx Observe, I'm working on getting it shut-off.

Any opinion on whether landlord can be held responsible for past & present excessive water bills due to home mechanical issues?

I recommended Artie's plumbing in an earlier thread. Who knows if he's available though! He did talk through a problem on the phone with me so maybe he can at least help you turn the water off and such.

Good luck!

This is probably one of the most important things every single person living in a home needs to know, but yet few do.

Did you find it? It sounded as if you might need to hire a leak detector, as well as a plumber.

I don't know if your LL would be responsible, but you might check with the city to ask if they make any adjustments. I once had a leak and discovered that the Scottsdale water department has a program that allows you a refund for a portion of what would be money squandered on leaked water.

We called Parker & Sons and once authorized by the LL, they came out and could not find any leaks. However they showed us how to shut the water off, and will have leak detectors comes out in the morning. Funny thing is, two other neighbors are experiencing various leaks and high bills as well. Hoping it is not under the slab foundation! City of Phoenix does offer reimbursement/credit for high bills to leaks!

I assume from your description that this is an apartment or other sort of multiunit housing? If your own meter is leaking at that rate, you should be able to find evidence of all that water somewhere. It might well be a slab leak. Have you walked around outside?

No, a 4k sq ft slab house on South Mountain. So far, the plumbers have discovered the leak coming from the hot-water line from one bathroom to another that was routed under-slab. They're re-routing the line now. The bill . . . $4k and counting! Ouch! We actually considered buying this property but I'd be seriously concerned with foundation issues being on the side of the mountain. The fact that three houses have had water leaks leads me to question whether there has been some sort of pressure surge from the city. I am assuming the homeowners property insurance will cover the damages.
