Well...all the fast growing areas are in southern warm climates and all of the population losing areas are in northern cold climates....statistics says its an advantage.

I'm in Chicago once a week....when I tell them I am going or just got back from Phoenix almost every person says "take us with you".

YES. At the very least, it is and advantage for 8 or 9 months a year.

I was watching the Weather Channel a bit this weekend. The high in the Phoenix area was in the 70s (or close) today. The high temperature in some areas of North Dakota and Minnesota was -5!

It is currently 3 where I live in Iowa and with the wind chill it's -19. Also snow is expected this week.
This is just sick.

I'm from western NY. I just returned from a trip to Phoenix and plan on moving there in a few years.

It's a trade off. Unless you live somewhere that is relatively temperate year round, there will always be times when one location is more comfortable than the other.

I'm sure northerners would make that trade in the winter, but I'm not so sure about the summer. It comes down to big picture. Do you want to suffer through heat or cold/snow/rain? Everybody has their preference. I know people who moved to Phoenix from Buffalo and have moved back. I know others who have moved to Phoenix and would never consider coming back. Unless you have the luxury of wintering someplace warm and summering someplace mild, you have to chose your poison.

I'll "suffer" through the heat instead of these freezing temps filled with snow, ice, wind, frostbite,...
I'll take a sunburn over frostbite any day.

Sue, you'd be suprised. The summer morning, evenings, and nights here are actually beautiful. I moved here 19 years ago, and actually love the summers more than the winters. Yes it was 78 yesterday, which is nothing to complain about, but I love the lakes. And it is never to hot to go water skiing.

I wholeheartedly agree. Regardless of how hot the daily high is, the mornings and evenings are heavenly.
