FWIW, Our pediatrician recommended tap water over bottle water when feeding our son bottles with formula. We are in the City of Phoenix.

You probably don't want to know but I'll chime in.
Your water starts out from rain and snowfall, goes into the lakes, then it is sanitized with a little chlorine and off it goes to your house. However, in some areas, they take your waste water (sewer water), take all the solids out of it, again treat it with chlorine and send it back out to be used again. That's it in it's simplest form. I don't really need to go into details but you get the idea.
It sounds pretty gross but it works well.
Also, some of our water comes from underground wells but not a lot. Most of our tap water is from rain/snowmelt.

I know it comes out of the pipes, but i'm wondering if Phoenix uses recycled waste water... I've read about pharmaceuticals being found in tap water....but i think that was in Vegas? My water comes from 60 feet under my home, but I run some (before hot water heater) through a filter (although unfiltered its very clean) because we have a tad bit of iron... I also use a 3 filter system for drinking/cooking water...

Yes they recycle, but it is used in lakes and irrigation only. Much of the water comes from the open canals these days. Good reason to report those dumping grocery carts, toilets, and swimming. It's your drinking water.
