This zoo is actually in the West Valley. We visited this zoo and aquarium last week and it was well worth the $ spent. It was clean, friendly and you could easily spend the entire day here. Afterwards, we ate at the Dillon's Restaurant right next to the zoo. When we become permanent residents, we plan on purchasing year-round passes.

Yes! this place is a major "treasure" in the Phoenix area. . . . .one of the best zoo's I have EVER visited. The new aquatic exhibits are a "rare treasure in the desert". . .I wish EVERYONE would support this place!

They announced a major expansion - to double in size in 2.5 years - a few weeks ago.

I really want to go, just haven't had a chance. A bit pricey, but now that we are both out of school, once I find work will definitely go. We've eaten at Dillon's via Groupon, it's very good.

It looked like they were expanding when we visited last week. It is a bit pricey, but every bit worth it, IMO, because you can bring a picnic basket and spend all day there. I was very impressed by the small indoor mammal exhibit which housed several species of tamarins, as well as the aquarium (three buildings). And yes, it is one of the best (top 3) I have ever visited. Was impressed with how clean and how friendly the employees were throughout the entire zoo.

And you could have dinner right next to the shark tank in Dillon's restaurant.

Keep an eye out on Groupon or such sites as they regularly have Dillons and sometimes have WW park discounts.
Also keep an eye on egg cartons as they'll have discounts printed on 'em for the park.
