I'm not sure what the ideal indoor temp is for pets. We keep our house warm at around 84F, and our cat seems ok. But if it reaches 85F she conks out and looks a bit weary. I assume animals acclimatise the same way humans do, but of course they are wearing a fur coat all the time.

My poor pups are already having a hard time walking on the patio. It should be illegal to leave your dog outside in AZ.

Don't leave them in the car!
Even if you "crack the windows". I can't believe how many times I read this in the paper or hear about it, it's just unnecessary.

That's asking for a free brick on your passenger seat.

There paw pads can get burned on the hot cement. Get them little shoes for walks.
They might feel humiliated at first but they will thank you later.

OH, and don't forget the hat.

My dogs actually love swimming. Maybe it's gross to have them in the pool but whatever. It's a great way for them to get in some exercise in the heat and it's easier on their joints than running around the yard. They refuse to go underwater though. I'd like them to learn how to dive so I can get some cool underwater pics.

There is a house in our subdivision that has two large constantly barking German Shepard Dogs in the back yard that stay out 24/7. They have a view fence so you can see in there yard when you walk on the walkway that goes right along their backyard. Most times the water bowl is tipped over and empty and I wonder how those woolly dogs survive out there in the middle of summer. They have no trees in the backyard so it is constant sun on the dogs.

Our dog is an inside dog and in the heat she does not even want to go out to reliever herself and we have to force her.
