Any ideas on good place to take car in to have window checked in Mesa or Phx/Scottsdale?

Can car washes that do minor carwork fix this?

Any do-it-yourself tips?

Thanks!

Car washes, I would doubt do any of this kind of work.

Best bet is either a mechanic, body shop, or a friend who does either.

FWIW, my husband works in auto body...could be your window regulator which tend to go quite often here.

First thing to check for is any blown fuses. Check your owners manual to see which fuse it is.
If not, you will need a mechanic to trouble shoot and tell you if it is electrical or mechanical. These are usually not too expensive, but it's anybody's guess. If you do not have a mechanic in your area you can try Fletchers or Gruelichs or one of the small chains. They are usually pretty fair.

If it's a power window try opening the door then while holding the power window switch to open/close the window slam the door closed, worked for me and saved me a trip to the auto shop

What model? Is it a BMW 3 series, if it is, it's probably the window regulator. I'd recommend some DIY but I don't know your model and year.

If its all the windows then its something electrical....if its a single window then it will need more investigating.

Google your year, model and sympton and you will usually see others with same problem.....then go to youtube and you will probably see someone doing that repair.

Most people are only capable of changing a blown fuse so be careful what you take on.

I can recommend First Class Auto on Scottsdale Rd & Oak St. behind Discount Tires. I had a similar problem last summer and they did a great job of replacing the regulator. Works perfect and was 1/3 of the price of the dealership.

Electric widows have always been expensive to repair at the dealer. I saw this ad recently on CL for most windows fixed for $100. I think it's mobile repair and guaranteed for a year. I'd probably give it a shot on a beater car.

Everything is expensive to repair at a dealer, unless it's under warranty.
