To piggyback...figure about 2 years on a car battery in the desert. Even if you regularly top the water off in it (if it is not a maintenance free battery).

- ahhh grashopppa!!! And with all the sealed batteries, you can't add distilled water so the darn things dry up. Hm... gotta find batteries that are refillable. Great info. Thanks

It won't matter. The heat speeds chemical reactions that hasten the end of the battery. Not much you can do about it. Just buy one that has a 3 year or better replacement. Actually, I rarely if ever pay for a battery here as they usually conk out while still in the free replacement period.

OMG Ponderosa, your a sneaky genius. Love it. I will do just that. Getting 5 to 6 years on a battery works for me.
Thanks KurtAZ for the life of a battery

Buy an extended warranty on any battery you purchase especially if it sits during the summer. That's because the averages car battery life is 22 months in AZ (see AAA Arizona - Automotive Repair )

In the winter, you are given strong hints when your battery is dying. Not so much in the extreme hot climates like AZ. Snowbirding also takes it's toll on security system batteries when you turn off your air.

@MN-Born-n-Rasied, I am definitely getting a security system. Definitely getting the extended warranty for the batteries. As a snowbird, I think I will leave one car there.

Transit the 72 I believe use to stop in front but they moved it so the closest you will get is 24th/Buckeye and walk the quarter mile. I have tried the light rail there but you still need to take the 72 the rest of the way(it was nice when they redline stopped right in front but the light rail replaced it). Hit me up if you have any questions.

Not the 72 route, it's the 70. Comes down 24th St from Glendale to Baseline. Thanks for the info, though; I was sure a bus had to go on 24th St, but I didn't realize it came across Glendale Ave and carried that route number. So one could get to B of A on Buckeye using the light rail and then taking the 70 bus from 24th St.
