Def shop around, all those numbers sound high even with what I am reading by others. I have state farm now and actually switched from state farm to progressive then back to state farm. I had three vehicles registered and insurance, a 03 Silverado SS, 64 Buick Skylark and a 96 Trans am and I was around $550 every six months. Without my Skylark and just the T/A and Silverado I was at $460 per 6 months. You can also tailor your policy to how many miles your driving for each vehicle which can help with rates as well. I'm 32 and have a clean driving record.

As previously stated your zip-code makes a big difference in your insurance rate, along with your miles driven, age, credit score, vehicle type etal.

I'm paying $950 per year for two cars where I live in California, both full coverage. Given that California is at the top of the lists in those links posted above, and Arizona is near the bottom of those lists (the listings going from expensive at the top to cheap at the bottom), I can't imagine what it'll be like when I move to Phoenix someday.

Your driving record is as big a fee booster as where you live. No one, "NO ONE", can tell you in a forum what it will cost you as insurance companies pay people to evaluate each individual as to insurability and cost. You would need to release so much personal information on the forum just to get a ball park figure, that the identity thieves would be in heaven.

I live in the Phoenix area and my insurance for 3 cars, a 2000 sq ft house, a boat, personal ppty insurance and our total is only $150.00 more than yours per year.

I moved from Detroit to the 85085 area of Phoenix about eight months ago. My car insurance went from $1300 every six months for one car to $600 for two. No accidents or tickets, same full coverage and company (Geico). The cost of car insurance was one of the determining factors for moving away, along with the winters.

There's a huge difference in what's included in the "state minimum" coverage between AZ and Michigan -
If you're poor and plan to never acquire any assets or attachable income (ever!), then AZ minimum coverage is fine - for everyone else, upgrading above the minimum is a really good idea.

AZ is set up so that many minor injury accidents result in a lawsuit (or the threat of one). If you've got a bank account and a house, you'll probably want to crank up your coverage levels and obtain an "umbrella" policy as well. A goodly percentage of accidents here are hit-and-run if the other driver hasn't disabled their car in the accident, so confirm your insurance will cover your losses fully in that event.

Shop around every renewal time

For the last three years my current carrier has been the best, State Farm

Two vehicles, no secured interests, Full coverage on a three year old luxury car
and a ten year old full sized 4X4 pickup.

No hits no errors no fouls, I pay $ 534.00 every six for the above mentioned.

Had to go with Hagerty on the classic car.

Holy s***, cheaper insurance was a flat out lie. Just called my carrier, AAA. Where I'm from in CA (Silicon Valley) it was $850 for full coverage for my car for a year. Clean record, just the one car, no owned home, yadda yadda. Same parameters here: $2200. That's almost TRIPLE. He quoted me Progressive, and it was still $1600. He quote me GMAC, and that was $1450.

Time to shop around, but I doubt it's going to be cheaper than my CA rate no matter where I go (while still being reputable). Told the guy on the phone that everyone says it's cheaper out here and he said nope, that's a common misconception. I asked why and he said there are a LOT of uninsured motorists and a lot of accidents.

I don't know what in the world is going on here between this thread and my real actual call, but it's definitely time to shop around.

EDIT: Got a quote from Geico based on several notes about it in this thread: $660.....

New insurance found.
