Well, first let's confirm what you are talking about. I am assuming that you are NOT talking about the official Town of Paradise Valley, which is a small municipality with the highest home prices in the Valley, but are talking about a part of Phoenix north of the Town of PV. Both Mesa and the "unofficial" Paradise Valley are large areas, with some parts having a somewhat higher crime rate than the rest. So, it is difficult to generalize.

The two are relatively far apart. Why the choice between those two? Is work location a factor? What else do you want/need to be close to.

Guess were not being very helpful here are we? The problem is PV is a very very expensive suburb of Phoenix with million dollar homes and Mesa in general is just the average single family ranch or 2 story that everyone lives in. So, why are you wanting info on the safest? Of course, PV is the safest since everyone there has mucho security systems and some employ a human also. So maybe if you could expand a litte on your wants and needs, we will be able to help a whole lot more.

A mile south of the town of Paradise Valley is a bit north of Camelback Road. Safe area, anywhere along that stretch. Very different from most of Mesa. Still not clear on why those are your choices. There are a lot of safe areas besides those two. What's your budget?

Those are the most random two areas to compare. People that can afford to live in PV don't live in Mesa. There are a lot of other safe areas.

It is impossible to answer your question based on generalities. The Town of Paradise Valley has some of the lowest crime statistics in the metro area, yet there were 2 murders in 2012.

1 mile south of PV could be Scottsdale or Phoenix depending how far east you are. The two areas could be decidedly different.

Mesa is a large city (population 446,000, 136 sq miles) even stating east Mesa does not narrow it down to neighborhoods.

The only way to know is to visit an area and see what the area looks like, talk to people and ask questions. If you cannot visit the area have a friend you trust visit it. Even then, there is no guarantee. No one thought that there would be two murders in The Town of Paradise Valley until it happened.

this question is like asking which is better, Honda or Toyota. Not enough info provided to answer the question.
