Will be visiting AZ soon for relocation purposes. From what I have read here, Tempe is best suited for me; howev, I have no desire to live near frat bros and the like. Where do faculty live? The ones who haven't yet achieved tenure, at least. I'm not wealthy and I'm not faculty. Just looking for a place that attracts like-minded folks. Thank you for your help.

South tempe, south of Guadalupe Rd is good. Lots of Professionals live there since it's close to Intel. I used to live there... very nice. If you're looking to rent, check out all the apartments on W Grove Parkway (right off of Kyrene Rd.)

While there is still some faculty living here in Tempe, they are not as concentrated here as they were 20 or more years ago. That said, if you live south of Broadway (especially the further east you go), or certainly south of Southern Ave., you aren't aware the University is even in the same city. As Pallas_Athena suggests, there are some nice apartment complexes in south Tempe, both on the west end around Grove Parkway and to the east along the major north-south and east-west streets.

I'll agree with both of those posts, too... Grove has a bunch of nice mid-priced places and you aren't really near the college kids. If you want to price yourself out of their range, there's a new Mark Taylor complex on Elliot that's in an awesome location and looks gorgeous, too.

I live in that area and my complex does have a few college kids but it's only really apparent on the weekends at the pool.
