And one way or another, its gonna smell. Toilet water is icky. I'm with JK. No one puts carpet in bathrooms anymore, just cause of this.

I don't have the time or money to start shopping for tile and hiring someone to do that. Besides, I'm not on the premises. There's no reason to think I'll get mold just in a few days, and there's nothing icky about clean water from the toilet tank.

Bingitslola, thanks for the suggestions. I looked up the number for Riteway, and it looks like there may not be a Stanley place nearby but I found a toll-free number. Thank you.

Definitely didn't. I saw your post about renting an extraction machine from home depot, and OP's reply that she wasn't interested in that level of undertaking.

My suggestion of a shop vac is different. If OP can use a vacuum, she can handle that.

You should be ok in terms of mold as long as the water didnt make it into the drywall. The carpet and pad beneath could provide a medium for mold growth so just get rid of that carpet lay down floor tile. You dont want carpet in a bathroom anyway.

How big is the bathroom? I'll do it for cheap, plus the cost of tile of course. It really isnt that hard.

Except the OP later added the info that she or he is not actually here in town (the original post implied differently) Hence the need to call someone-- and the main reason why DIY won't work. I agree a shop vac is smaller, and might work for someone who's actually here to use it!

Rent a de-humidifier if you already have not. It will suck all the moisture out.

I know...I'll never understood why carpet ever ends up in a bathroom/under toilets in the 1st place either. I think now is as good as anytime to to lose the carpet for tile to prevent future similiar issues, better resell value. And if it's such a tiny space, putting in tile won't cost much at all, probably not much more/less than someone coming over and extracting all the water out.
