I get on the 101 at 56th street. Today when I drove down the onramp, I saw the strangest thing...not a single car. Not in front of me, not coming from behind. As if aliens had abducted every single car on the road. Very weird. I wish I had snapped a picture as I was driving on the empty lanes.

Lol, that happened to me once on the freeway here. Was very eerie and I never found out why the freeway was empty. A couple cars finally got on once I passed a couple more on-ramps. Traffic was moving in the opposite direction but in my direction I was the only car for as far as I could see. I suspect, like you, there was an accident behind me and they had closed the freeway.

Nope but I was listening to it on KTAR...that and the Semi Truck that killed a bicyclist.

I was listening to the radio at home before I left as well as in the car. I heard nothing about it, so I wonder if it just happened shortly before I got there. I wish the 101 was like that every day!

I went by near where the bicycle incident happened. Elliot still closed west of Priest as of about 9:00. A tragic example of why bicyclists are not supposed to ride against traffic.

I constantly wonder why bicyclists don't read up on the laws that govern their operation on streets. But then again I know of lots of drivers that get irritated with them when a bicycle is in "their" lane or one that runs a red light. Just a tragic loss of life.
I didn't hear if there were any fatalities with the 101 accident this morning though...one car was supposedly flipped against the median with a truck next to it and the other 2 cars ran head on into the off ramp wall?
