"skid row" for PHX is like other posters have said south of downtown, from buckeye to the south Roosevelt to the North and 11th to 27th ave to the west I would say!

Yes, I do know where Sunnyslope is. I know someone who is feeding homeless & their pets in that area.
Apartments at 29th and Camelback was the most recent "outing" of residents that I know of, brought on by GCU purchasing the building. These people have been driven out of the area, thus winding up in parks within a 5-10 mile radius, this is why I mentioned Sunnyslope.

29th and Camelback is nowhere near Sunnyslope. Sunnyslope is approximately 19th Avenue to the west, Cactus Road to the north, 16th Street to the east, and Northern Avenue to the south. A "5-10 mile radius" could be any number of Phoenix neighborhoods.

I know which apartments you are talking about. I doubt that former residents of those apartments are living in parks all the way over in Sunnyslope. That's not to say that there are not homeless people using many of the parks in the metro area.

Let's get back to the topic.

Like I said, I know where it is. I too have Google. I stick to my 5 to 10 mile radius as Coulter Apts. is just 4 miles from Sunnyslope High.

East Van Buren used to be a combination of a skid row and a hooker hangout ... certainly an area to avoid. In retrospect, I jokingly gave it the nickname "HoRo". It's still not a very desirable area with all the rundown motels, but at least there aren't as many homeless, and the prostitutes have been cleared out of there. Only problem is they just relocated and scattered elsewhere throughout the city. Pretty much any freeway entrance ramp is going to be a hotbed for panhandlers. At least most of the ones I've come across are not aggressive.
