To follow up, we went to The Gladly last night. It's a sister restaurant to Citizen Public House in Old Town if anyone has been there, any some of the menu items are the same and just as good. My wife got the Original Chopped Salad (which is also served at CPH) and it's just great. I had a Chimichuri Chicken which would really good. Great food, but I prefer the Citizen Public House location...that place has a lot more "happening" type of atmosphere to it, more people, louder...just feels more like you went out on a Saturday night. The Gladly had an older crowd, more business people type place it seemed...same for the location/setting.

And I agree with others on here, there are better places than what's on this list...for example I prefer Cibo over Pizzeria Bianco, I think the pizza tastes better and I like the place itself more. But I like these lists, gives us something new to do (going to each of these restaurants over the next few months ).

I don't think this list is necessarily meant as the best restaurants in Phoenix, but instead the most buzzworthy as measured by reviews submitted to Zagat. That's why most of the restaurants on the list are ones that have opened in the past year. They're new, they've gotten a lot of publicity within food-centric media, and a lot of people have been eager to try them.

As a whole, this is a solid list of good to very good restaurants. Just because they're popular doesn't necessarily mean that they're overhyped. Of the places on this list that I've been to (6), they've all delivered.

Me neither, trendy restaurants are not my thing.

But I'm always up for finding a good coffeehouse whether it's trendy or not, and in out of the way locations.

You ought to try roasting your own! My garage makes a wonderful out of the way coffeehouse!
