That's awful. Shop around.

Also, where do you live? It's going to be more in some areas, but not what you are paying.

That was in PA and now we are out here in Arizona with 2 sons, 18 and 16. My 18 year old moved out here first while my 16 year old had to finish up camp in PA and got his license in PA. I went to an agent and they said the cheapest they could find for the 3 of us for 2 cars(minis) was $2991 for a year. Now that my 16 year old is out here she said it would be another $1550 a year. This is insane! In PA i was paying $2000 total for the 3 of us with 3 cars and I then had a minor accident that was still on there plus my major one. The minor one was from 2010 just bumping my garage. She said that is not on this quote. Is this normal? She said Arizona was more money but anyone else paying this much? There has to be people in my situation with a not so perfect but NOT too bad of a record? I told her to find me a better quote, I can't afford to pay $379 a month in car insurance. I told my son he needs to get a part time job. Any Advice would be great!

OP with your past history and 2 teenagers driving plus whatever the zip code area you live in, you will very likely be in the $3000-$4000 range. I'd suggest you take a high deductible like $500 or $1000 to keep your rate as low as possible.

Hi Everyone, thanks for the replies, I will call Geico myself and see, we live in the zipcode 85226 in Chandler. We did get our Arizona License before we applied for the insurance since we were still insured in PA until we switched, we did it all within our 30 days after we got here.

Progressive was more, my husband got out here first and was paying $959 for 6 months for just him and his car, then when we came out it was super high with them. She told me Pekin was the cheapest but I don't know I wasn't expecting him to be $1550 for a year.

insurance in general is more expensive in AZ, I think we are paying almost 20% more for home and auto compared to WA.

My rates are lower here than what I used to pay in PA. I would shop around.

Auto theft, and accidents, year round. Winter vs some other time of year doesn't matter that much.

Great suggestion / advice, Wit-Nit.

For what it's worth, SunshineGirl . . . consider shopping around but keep in mind that "cheap" and/or "bargain" insurance my not be a wise choice especially with two teenagers involved.
