I have family in the Phoenix area. I think the boring comments come from the fact that it gets so hot no one goes outside. I stayed for 2 weeks in Cave Creek & hid most of the days indoors, AC ran 24 hours a day.

more like 6 months good weather, my son couldn't even wear his Halloween mask because it was still 90 plus at dusk on Halloween, I remember him being blood red faced and having to take it off more then a few Halloweens. That's not beautiful weather that's misery.

It depends on your definition of 'good'. I'd argue that we have ten months of good weather.

I tell everyone PLEASE go to California instead if all you are going to do is whine about the heat. If you can put up with it being hot for 3 months & warm for another couple then welcome, glad to have you.

By the way I am a native.

When I was a kid trick or treating, I remember even if it was 60 degrees out, I was still warm with a mask on, just being excited being out and such. If I was trick or treating in AZ/the low desert and it was 90, I wouldn't be wearing a traditional mask. I think I might go as an ice cube and have an ice pack "mask" on if the heat bothered me that much/I knew it would be too hot for my kid.

"Good" weather is relative. Most people are comfortable out here at least 8 months of the year. Some like me enjoy the summer heat also and wonder how anyone can stand living in most of the country where winters are cold, long and gloomy and other "nice" parts of the year can turn into a cloudy/rainy gloom-fest for extended periods of time.

The heat is intense...the only other place I've been that's comparable is Iraq. Strong gusts of wind that don't cool you but blast you with hot air & sand. The swimming pools are so hot that you can't swim during the day.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't hate the area, it's actually at the top of my list for retirement places.

That's not entirely true. My pool was very comfortable all summer just by running the aerator at night. Now, in August, with the recent rains and lower nighttime lows, it's downright refreshing.

I have yet to experience any issues with my skin, hair, nose, etc due to the dryness. I moisturize here the same as I did before I moved here. My skin is fine. My hair is fine. I would get nose bleeds back in Des Moines in the winter due to the dryness brought on by indoor heating systems, but nothing here yet.

I spent some time in Arizona, in and around Phoenix and I don't think I'd like to live there. Too hot, and too much of rocks, dirt, and cactus around. I've not seen the northern part of the state, that might be better.

If you don't like mountains and cacti, not moving here seems like the obvious choice. Otherwise, it would be like moving to Florida and not liking water and palm trees.
