Personally I have DirecTV and then Cox for Internet. I work from home and have always found cable internet to be superior over broadband. Not sure that's a fact but it's been my personal experience.

Almost all internet options today are broadband which includes coaxial (Cox), DSL (CenturyLink) and wireless mediums. The term broadband is generic and refers to the ability to transmit multiple signals and traffic types simultaneously.

I find cable internet to be better as well. Some info on DSL vs. cable here:

cox internet monthly data cap overages emails

What decent internet providers. other than Cox/Century Link?

The others were more willing to work with me to keep me on their service/plan. But, I was always calling them for one reason or another, and I like this one the best.

I made the mistake with Cox to call and inquire about going seasonal for 7 weeks while on a vacation. Didn't know how it worked and after calling found out I could save about 45 dollars doing it. Was not told I would lose my promotional rate in the process. Got charged a $140 cancellation fee that they eventually waived. Four months later, several phone calls with no follow up from Cox. An email that I sent that still has not been responded to. A trip to a Solutions store with no help. Feel sorry for those employees as I was there for 90 minutes and all I saw was people complaining about how Cox lied to them or deceived them. Again, I should have known the policy but counted on an employee for help and ended up almost doubling my bill to save 45 bucks. I'm somewhere between smart and stupid but not dumb enough to knowingly pay an extra $35 per month just to save $45. I have no complaint about the internet service provided but the customer service has been one of the worst experiences that I have ever encountered.

Cox would just try and convince you it's your fault and get you to buy new equipment.
My 5 year "old" modem would keep getting disconnected every couple days for a few weeks the beginning of the year. I called cox and we were troubleshooting it over the phone. They were diagnosing it over the phone when it disconnected itself again. Customer service told me there was nothing wrong on their end and didnt know why it was disconnecting. -mind you this is the same modem ive been using since i started my service years ago-. Customer service told me take it to the store so u can get it replaced to rule out a bad modem. I asked and they assured me i wouldnt incur a cost to replace it. I drive down to the cox store, walk in to get it replaced. They tell me my "ancient" modem is out of manufacturers warranty and i need to get it replaced for $85. I told them customer service specifically said it would be replaced free of charge. Long story short they said i need to pay $85. I didnt want to because the CS rep didnt assure me the modem was faulty. I told them im not going to pay 85 bucks so MAYBE i wont have the same issue. Took it back home, it disconnected up a few more times and hasnt ever gave me any problems all year long. My conclusion was that it was something wrong on their end and they were trying to make me fork 85 bucks for something i didnt need.
